London, August 2026 – For the first time since 2022, Burgundy has overtaken Bordeaux as the most traded wine region by value, according to new analysis from Liv-ex, the global fine wine exchange for market data, insight and trading.
For collectors and investors considering a return to the market, it may now be wise to consider Burgundy’s top names. Mid range Burgundies, however, face continuing pressure.
Sophia Gilmour, Market Analyst, commented:
„Taking the bid:offer ratios of Burgundy (beyond the 150) by price bucket, we can see a clear distinction between demand for the region’s top wines versus those on the market below £5,000/12×75. Though there has been a slight increase in demand for Burgundy under £5,000/12×75, supply (as proxied by value of offers) appears to be ever-expanding. The notable exceptions here are the better-known white wines in this price range.“
