Brigaldara presents Valpolicella Superiore DOC Case Vecie 2023

From the “Vigne Alte” of Grezzana, a vintage shaped by a challenging spring and defined by finesse, freshness and a precise sense of place.

San Pietro in Cariano, March 2026 – Brigaldara (link) presents Valpolicella Superiore DOC Case Vecie 2023 (link), produced from its high-altitude vineyard – over 450 metres above sea level – in Grezzana, Valpantena. The grapes were harvested in the first week of October, following a season marked by a rainy spring and a balanced summer. Careful vineyard management and targeted winemaking decisions helped preserve freshness and aromatic finesse. The result is a Valpolicella Superiore that clearly expresses the character of the “Vigne Alte,” with a production of approximately 30,000 bottles.

Vintage 2023 | Weather Overview

The season began with a rainy and demanding spring that required constant attention in the vineyard. Because of both the rainfall and the vineyard’s altitude, flowering took place around fifteen days later than the historical average.

From June onward conditions stabilised. Summer was balanced, with two rainfall events in July about two weeks apart. These helped the vines gradually regain their pace of ripening, allowing the grapes to reach full maturity in excellent health. Harvest began in the first week of October.

“Case Vecie 2023 is the perfect synthesis of our vision of Valpolicella Superiore – a wine that does not pursue power for its own sake, but rather the depth and elegance that altitude can provide,” says Antonio Cesari. “Despite a spring that put us to the test, nature regained its balance, giving us grapes with remarkable aromatic clarity. To preserve this integrity, we opted for lower fermentation temperatures, focusing on freshness and finesse. With this vintage, we continue to express a vertical and vibrant Valpolicella, capable of evolving gracefully while remaining true to its original freshness.”

The result is a Valpolicella Superiore that consistently reflects Brigaldara’s philosophy: purity, precision, drinkability and respect for varietal character – an interpretation of terroir that favours balance and authenticity.

The “Vigne Alte” of Case Vecie

Case Vecie is Brigaldara’s project dedicated to the “Vigne Alte,” a rural microcosm in the hills of Grezzana, Valpantena, where vineyards rise above 450 metres.

Here altitude, significant day–night temperature variation and rich biodiversity define a distinctive growing environment. Ripening is slow and gradual, helping shape both aromatic precision and the wine’s phenolic structure.Vineyard management focuses on the individual plot, with manual work and a balanced vegetative–productive approach.

Case Vecie is also home to Locanda Case Vecie, a small hospitality project set among vineyards and woodlands. Guests may stay overnight or simply enjoy tastings, walks along the hill ridges, cycling routes and a simple, locally inspired cuisine, within a hospitality concept consistent with Brigaldara’s agricultural roots.
