Cuvage (link) unveils the new vintage of Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Brut Rosé 2020, a Traditional Method sparkling wine crafted exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes.
As the flagship label of the winery, this Brut Rosé embodies Cuvage’s mission: to bring a fresh perspective to Piemonte’s sparkling wine tradition by giving native grape varieties a new voice.
The grapes for Nebbiolo d’Alba Brut Rosé 2020 (linkhttps://vinifera-mundi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Tech-Sheet.pdf) come from a small, six-hectare vineyard in the municipality of Verduno. Here, the limestone, clay, and silt-rich soils impart remarkable minerality and freshness to the wines. This historic Nebbiolo-growing area provides ideal conditions for crafting wines of notable character and complexity.
The 2020 Vintage
The year began with a mild winter, followed by a dry and sunny March and April. Heavy rainfall in May and June temporarily slowed vine development, but the rest of the season remained well-balanced. Nebbiolo, in particular, reached harvest in peak condition. 2020 will be remembered as an excellent vintage, marked by elegance, aromatic intensity, and great balance.

Harvested in late August at optimal ripeness, the Nebbiolo grapes underwent gentle pressing and a short skin maceration, imparting the wine its delicate pink hue. The first fermentation took place at a low temperature in small, thermo-conditioned stainless-steel tanks to preserve the varietal’s subtle aromas. Second fermentation in the bottle took place at a constant temperature of 15°C, with aging on lees extended for 24 months.
In the glass, Nebbiolo d’Alba Brut Rosé 2020 displays a soft pink hue and a fine, persistent perlage. Aromas of freshly baked bread mingle with floral notes of rose, nutmeg, and red berries like currants and wild strawberries. The palate is fresh, mineral, and harmonious, with a lingering finish.
A perfect match for seafood appetizers, shellfish, and seafood risottos, Nebbiolo Brut Rosé 2020 also pairs beautifully with carpaccio, tartare and fresh cheeses.
