ROBERT PARKER WINE ADVOCATE to host the 2nd Edition of SWITZERLAND’S BIGGEST FINE WINE EXPERIENCE IN 2018

“MATTER OF TASTE” IS RETURNING WITH OVER 800 HIGHLY RATED WINES FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO TASTE OVER A WEEKEND, PRESENTED BY OVER 250 WINERIES

  • Save the date: on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February 2018 at the Dolder Grand Hotel Zurich, the largest fine wine tasting open to the public in Europe will feature a unique selection of highly rated wines with scores from RP90 to RP100.

 

  • Expert masterclasses, a Grand Finale Dinner and an amazing two day walkabout tasting will be hosted by The Wine Advocate critics and over 250 renowned wine makers and wine personalities coming from all over the world to Zurich for this great gathering of talents.

 

SINGAPORE, Wednesday, 17 January 2018– This February, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, the world’s most recognised authority on wine, is bringing back its much-lauded Matter of Taste wine event for its second edition at Grand Dolder Zurich. This edition will feature over 800 iconic wines rated 90 Robert Parker (RP) points and above, including wines rated RP100.
The signature wine event of the year brings together specially curated wine selections from around the world, and offers expert masterclasses and unforgettable wine-pairing dinners hosted by star winemakers and Wine Advocate reviewers. In past years, the event has featured over 1,800 fine wines in nine cities, including New York City, London, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Zurich.

The two large ballrooms of the Dolder Grand, one of Switzerland’s finest 5-star hotels, will feature wines grouped by regions presented by wine makers, winery owners or representatives from around the world. Guests are invited to walkabout, taste, compare, learn and share insights in an expert yet casual setting.

 

The walkabout tasting will take guests across the globe — from Bordeaux to Piedmonte, Veneto, Tuscany, Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia, Macedonia, Alentejo, Dao, Bairrada, Douro, Setubal, Aragon, Castilla de Leon, Montsant, Navarra, Penedes, Priorat, Murcia, Rioja, Catalonia,  Maimara, Mendoza, Salta, Aconcagua, Atacama, Maipo, the Thracian Lowlands, the Bekaa Valley, Rhone, Languedoc, Roussillon, Champagne, Haut Rhin, Bas Rhin, Rhiengau, Rhein Hessen, Nahe, Pfalz, Mosel, Kremstal, Steiermark, Niederösterreich, Burgenland, Stellenbosch, Contantia, Western Cape, the Walker Bay, the Barossa Valley, the Clare Valley, Margaret River, Martinborough, Central Otago, Waiheke Island, Napa, Sonoma, Virginia, Oregon, Yunnan, Vaud, Auvernier, Deutschweiz, Ticino and other wine regions.

 

Great classics will be there such as 1st classified growth Bordeaux Chateau Lafite and from Pomerol  Chateau Lafleur Petrus, Napa cult wines such as Realm, offbeat wonders such as Sine Qua Non, super Tuscans such as Tua Rita and Ornellaia, Chilean kings of Cabernet such as Don Melchor and Sena, Barossa celebrities such as Chris Ringland, and of last but not least, some of the best Switzerland has to offer with over 15 top Swiss producers. It is noteworthy that for many wine makers this will be a first and exciting encounter with the Swiss wine market as their wines are not yet available in Switzerland.

 

Masterclass Showcase


Matter of Taste Zurich will play host to eight exclusive wine tasting masterclasses on 24th and 25th February, offering guests the opportunity to explore and expand their knowledge of more varieties, styles and wine regions in guided wine tastings. These Masterclasses will be conducted by the expert wine critics of the Robert Parker Wine Advocate team, namely Editor-in-Chief Lisa Perrotti-Brown (MW) who will cover the Bordeaux and Californian masterclasses, Stephan Reinhardt who will cover the Swiss and Champagne masterclasses, Luis Gutierrez who will cover the Spanish and Chile masterclasses, and Monica Larner who will cover the Italian masterclass. Visiting wine makers will be there and participants will be thrilled to hear the stories and meet the faces behind the wines such as Manfred Krankl of Sine Qua Non, from Champagne Benoit Tarlant and Delphine Brulez of Louise Brison Hugh de Payen, Scott Becker of Realm Cellars, Alessandro Mori of Il Marroneto, Elisabetta Geppetti of Fattoria Le Pupille and many more.

Luis Gutierrez will present his first solo book during the masterclass “A New Generation of Spanish Winegrowers”, a dedicated book will be offered to each attendant.
